What is PPC?

PPC or Pay Per Click is a great tool for advertisers and web-based businesses, but using it properly is extremely important. It is essentially a method of advertising your website on search engine results (in the sponsored result listing) where advertisers bid against each other to be the top search result on particular keywords or keyword phrases. Pay Per Click is better than other types of advertising because the consumer is actively seeking a product or service when he/she types a keyword in a search engine.

At the moment, Pay Per Click is growing extremely fast (Google will have over $10 billion in revenues for 2006). It is a form of paid advertising where you bid on keywords and phrases that are relevant to your product or service and when a surfer clicks on your ad, which shows up on search engine results pages, you are charged a fee for that visitor clicking on your ad. It is also an easy way of paid promotion done through websites and search engines. So, it is a highly competitive field and those offering you support are the ones selling you the clicks (search engines).

Remember that Pay Per Click is not about trying to attract someone's attention and spread brand awareness, although this benefit does exist; it's about offering your product/service when a potential customer is looking for it and it is incredibly effective, reliable and cost-efficient compared to other advertising.

Choosing right keyword and the right search engine to advertise are the keys for a successful Pay Per Click campaign. Considered one of the best online marketing strategies, it is a great way to drive targeted traffic to your site while you only pay for actual clicks to your site. Pay Per Click Search Engines enable you to list your website at the top of specific search engine results.

The major benefit of Pay Per Click is that your campaign is targeted directly to people who have shown interest in your product / service and you only pay once a potential customer actually visits your site via the Pay Per Click advert. One of the greatest attractions is the ability to easily track clicks and costs. It is an easy way for any website to generate lots and lots of traffic, but you have to be very careful or you'll spend too much and run yourself right out of business. Whenever it is done correctly it can be a money making machine.
